Many homeowners are challenged by the cost of construction and permitting fees to add an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) or guesthouse on their property. SOL HAUS DESIGN wants to address these problems to provide reasonably priced housing solutions. We believe it is our responsibility to provide economic value with simple and efficient design solutions.
With a tiny footprint of 240 square feet, the guesthouse feels spacious. It has a vaulted ceiling, plenty of natural light, and large patio doors which looks onto to a large deck. The open floor plan includes a living room/dining, kitchen, and full bathroom. The bedroom is on the first floor to avoid the need for stairs or ladder. The exterior will have fire-resistant materials such as a standing seam metal roof and cement board panel siding. As fires become the new normal throughout California (and beyond), we believe building design needs to address critical issues of climate change and sustainability.
MODULAR, FACTORY BUILT & PRE-PERMITTED!

BevyHouse can produce high quality structures with less waste, high energy efficiency and minimal impact on the environment. Factory building minimizes construction waste and increases efficiency, much more than traditional “stick-built” construction. The controlled environment allows for building without the challenges of weather.
The modular units are are registered and permitted under HCD (California Housing and Community Development). The units are constructed and permitted in the factory as a turn-key solution, and completed in 3 months. This is a much simpler and faster process compared to traditional permitting with local jurisdictions. It’s also important to note that the units are NOT on wheels, unlike many many tiny houses on the market. These units are considered permanent structures for full-time dwelling, therefore it can also function as a primary dwelling.
The units are built in the factory with finishes, cabinets, and lighting. After completion, they are delivered to the jobsite on a flat bed truck. They are typically installed on a concrete block foundation; utilities are connected underneath the foundation. Site preparation can be done simultaneously during the construction in the factory, thereby reducing timeframe dramatically. Construction and permitting can be as little as 3 months!
Our goal is to provide a standardized design with a drawing set that has been pre-approved for permitting. This will consist of structural and architectural drawings, details and Title 24 engineering.
The result is an efficient system which will reduce the cost for permitting and construction. The cost estimate for our 240sf guesthouse prototype is $125,000. Please note that this excludes development cost for foundation and sitework. Also please consult your local jurisdiction for zoning and planning requirements. Setbacks, height limitations, lot area coverage are some of the items you will need to address.
